Kathryn Bernardo is the definition of Fitness Goals. We mean, have you seen her Instagram posts? Whether she’s holed up at home or stuck in lock-in taping for her newest teleserye, the actress remains diligent in keeping her body toned and healthy. She seems to be an open book when it comes to her fitness journey, as well. After sharing with fans her indoor workout routine last year, Kathryn hopped on another YouTube vlog to talk about the secret to maintaining her impressive physique, despite being a proclaimed food lover.

As per the actress, it’s all about keeping the perfect balance between exercising and eating the right food. Before picking up the discipline, Kathryn admitted to having only stuck with the former, thinking an active lifestyle would be enough to help her lose weight. As she grew older, though, she found her metabolism slowing down, which finally pushed her to incorporate a balanced diet into her eating habits.

“When I say eating the right food, hindi naman ibig sabihin hindi na masarap. Pwede pa rin,” explained the actress. Instead of limiting your food choices, Kathryn’s advice is to give yourself cheat days. “Sabi ng trainer ko it’s good to reward yourself twice a week para hindi ka nade-deprive,” she further shared, mentioning that her cheat days are every Sundays and Thursdays.

“I think the secret lang is do not deprive yourself, but do not overeat,” Kathryn emphasized. “You have to take care of your health. More than just being physically maganda kapag kumakain ka ng tamang food, it’s really for your health. “

As for her usual workout routine, Kathryn sees to it that she exercises at least four times a week if she wants to get actual results. She’s particularly big on cardio and always tries to run a minimum of 5000 steps in 30 minutes. However, if you haven’t built up that kind of discipline just yet, you might want to take Kathryn’s other tip to stay motived: Wear nice clothes.

“For me, pagkagising ko and I wear my workout clothes [agad], feeling ko ma-o-oblige ako to workout kasi suot ko na siya,” said the actress. “Kahit mag-workout ako ng mga 6 o'clock o anong oras pa yan, ma-o-oblige ako to workout kasi nakapang-workout outfit na ‘ko. Try that, na gawin mong pambahay yung workout outfit mo para wala kang reason na mag-complain. Just wear something cute or yung mapapa-happy ka. It doesn’t have to be expensive…because it gives you that extra motivation.”
