Remember that Pitch Perfect scene with Fat Amy demonstrating her favorite exercise, horizontal running? That’s what we end up doing when our silky sheets triumph over us—and we want to avoid that. 

It’s true, the most challenging part of our fitness journey is actually starting one. So before you decide to lace up those sneakers, enlist the help of a partner—your beau, your BFF, your sister, whoever you’re comfortable with. That way, you are less likely to press the snooze button knowing someone’s waiting for you. You don’t want to be called a flaker, do you?

Below, the benefits of having a workout buddy.

When you feel like giving up—like quitting even before you begin and quitting in the middle of crunches—just look over to your partner-in-crime. The intensity grows when you’re working out with someone. Plus, you’ll always have a spotter during weight training!

It doesn’t always have to be a trip to the gym and pounding the pavement. You and your partner can try out different routines like squash, swimming, Acro-Yoga, etc. And if you’re new to a certain activity (or machine at the gym), having someone do it with you makes it less intimidating.


If you’re anything like us (read: fashion obsessed), coordinating outfits at the gym or for your morning run is enough motivation.

After the success of Nike Women's 10k in 2015, which was the biggest all-female 10km race in Manila with almost 9,000 runners last May, Nike invites Filipina runners to join the NRC Women’s Half Marathon Manila, Nike’s first all-women half marathon in the country. Continuing the tradition and spirit of last year's race, Filipina participants are invited to register with their best female buddy who is up for taking on bigger challenges and emerging #BetterForIt.

First-timer? Not to worry! Nike has prepared a series of training services for registered runners that include Nike+ Run Club sessions and Nike+ Training Club sessions. As a start point, runners can design their training using the Nike+ Running and Nike+ Training Club Apps that are available on both iOS and Android platforms.

To register: Log on to Registration will open on January 30, 2016 at 1:00 am, Manila time. Registration fee is P2700 per pair payable via credit card or PayPal.
