Every chance we get to interview professional makeup artists, we usually ask them to share their own beauty tips and tricks. After all, who wouldn't want a free lesson from some of the best in the biz? That said, when I met celebrity makeup artist RB Chanco at her book launch, it was only fitting that I switched it up.
RB glams up stars like Charo Santos, Kris Aquino, Erich Gonzales, Bea Alonzo, Julia Baretto, and many more on the daily. She has been doing makeup for 18 years, and for a while, she was even a makeup instructor at SoFa Design Institute. She was also Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere's makeup artist when the pageant was held in Manila!
Impressive resume, no? Yet again, the MUA is celebrating another milestone in her career: She's launching her very own book called RBeautified, a simplified guide to all things makeup. Since the book itself already holds her best tips and secrets, Preview asked her to share the beauty tricks she learned from her celebrity clients instead. Check them out below:
1. How to achieve rounder-looking eyes (from Charo Santos)
Unlike many celebrities, Charo prefers to make her eyes look rounder instead of more cat-like and elongated. To do this, she and RB have perfected their own technique. According to RB, Charo's eyeliner would always be flicked upwards at the end instead of downwards, so her eyes look lifted and rounder at the same time.
How to do it: Tightline your upper and lower lashlines with a pencil liner to accentuate the shape of your eyes. Then, extend the tip of your eyeliner to draw a mini cat-eye to give your eyes a rounder appearance.

2. How to have longer, curlier lashes (from Erich Gonzales)
RB says that Erich told her that using an eyelash curler warm gives the lashes a more lifted effect. It helps prolong the curl, too, so if you have long lashes already, you might even get away with not using mascara!
How to do it: Turn your hair dryer on low heat and hover it over your eyelash curler. Let the metal cool down for a few seconds (check the temperature with your hand first so you don't burn your eyelids) and curl away!

3. How to create a custom lipstick color (from Kris Aquino)
RB shares that Kris has a habit of mixing three to four lipstick colors. "No makeup artist can apply lipstick on her. She has her own concoction," says the makeup artist. For example, she says that Kris would sometimes start with a red lipstick, then layer a pink and a peachy nude on top of it. "It always turns out the way she wants. I don't know how she does it," RB admits.
How to do it: The key to lipstick layering is to use matte products as a base before working with shiny and glossy finishes. This way, you can mix light colors over dark ones and vice versa without making a mess on your lips.
