We all want that angelic-looking pout, but unfortunately, not everyone's blessed with full lips. Luckily, it looks like Tiktok has just the solution: Cherub lips, a.k.a. the new trending makeup hack that proves anyone with lip liner can achieve plumper-looking lips with the right technique.
What Is the "Cherub Lip" Trend?
A cherub is a winged angel with child or infant-like features, like cupid. Cherubs—with their doe eyes, rosy cheeks, and pouty lips—are typically illustrated with more volume at the middle of their lips that almost form a circle, while the sides of their lips are kept thin, similar to the lips of a doll. Hence, the "cherub lip" trend.
The look was popularized by makeup artist Ehlie Luna, who posted a tutorial on Tiktok on how to achieve the angelic pouty lip.
How to Achieve Cherub Lips?
Want to hop in on the "Cherub Lip" beauty trend? Check out the step-by-step guide below.
1. Overline your cupid's bow and the middle part of your top lip.
To get "cherub lips," Luna says to use lip liner to overline only the middle parts of your lip. "Ignore any dip you might have in the middle [of your cupid's bow]," she says, drawing straight across it to create a rounded lip.
2. Do not overline the sides of your lip.
In her tutorial, she only overlines the middle of her top lip before connecting it to the sides of her lip. "One way to get that [cherub] look with liner is to emphasize the volume on top, not [the sides of your lips]. If you lift that it’s just a normal lip filler type of look."
3. Do the same for your bottom lip.
She then continues to line her bottom lip, again only overlining the lowest point of her bottom lip then connecting it with her lower lip using the liner. The result is a round and plumper pout.
4. Swipe on lip gloss.
Finish off the look with some gloss on top and use concealer if you need to clean up the edges of your lips.
