The couple of four years broke the news via their respective agencies, SALT Entertainment and Santa Claus Entertainment, on the morning of November 23.
Aside from the formal announcement, Shin Hye and Tae Joon also penned letters for their supporters, which were posted on each of their official fansites.
“I’m very nervous to be sharing this news today, and on one hand, I’m worried that you might be very surprised by this sudden news. But I still wanted to tell all of you first,” wrote Shin Hye, per the translation on Soompi. “I am getting married with the person I have been in a relationship with for a long time. He has been a source of support for a long time and embraced all of the shortcomings of the person Park Shin Hye, and I would like to begin a life as a married couple with him."
She continued, "And though I am cautious to say this as it is very early on, I was blessed with a baby. I wanted to tell you before anyone else. I will show you a positive side after I start a family as well.”
After denying their involvement early on due to “personal reasons,” the celebrity couple went public with their relationship in 2018. Just last year, Shin Hye gushed about Tae Joon during an interview for her her zombie apocalypse film #Alive, stating. “It wasn’t our intention to go public with our relationship then, but it happened and it’s been nice. We’re still going strong.”
Shin Hye is best known for her starring roles in The Heirs and Memories of the Alhambra, while Tae Joon gained recognition for his performances in the 2018 sci-fi drama Exit and the romantic comedy So I Married the Anti-fan.
Their wedding will be held with a private ceremony on January 22, 2022.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
