There’s a reason why so many people are obsessed with achieving toned abs. Not just a good look for the ‘Gram, a strong core also improves your posture, prevents lower back pain, and helps you develop an overall healthy physique. That said, actually getting a six-pack is obviously no walk in the park, which is why it’s always ideal to start with having #fitspirations we can follow. Good thing some of our local celebs have stepped up to the plate.

Here are six different celebrity-approved workout routines to try out for toned abs. Of course, don’t forget to balance it all out with cardio exercises and a healthy diet.

1. Kathryn Bernardo

At the onset of the first ECQ last year, Kathryn Bernardo shared her quarantine fitness routine, with the guidance of seasoned experts. She spends three sessions doing three different sets of workouts, so you can choose which one best suits your fitness goal. Day 1 involves slow resistance training, which requires varying forms of planks, lunges, and burpees, and works best with a Megaformer. Of course, if you don’t have the machine at home, then best skip to Days 2 and 3 for good-old fashioned mat exercises.


2. Julia Barretto

At the request of fans, Julia Barretto finally revealed her secret to killer abs in a YouTube video. Below, she demonstrates the specific exercises she does to train her core, with one set each. However, the actress reiterates doing at least three sets is ideal if you really want a toned midsection. Her routine includes rotational crunches, lying toe touches, heel taps, and planks, among others.

3. Erich Gonzales

You can always join Erich Gonzales for a full body fitness routine at home, but if you’re keen on only tightening your core as of now, skip to her last three exercises. She starts off with a one-minute plank, followed by 15 Russian sit ups and 15 leg raises. As per Erich, planking isn’t just for the abs. “Marami siyang benefits. It’s good for your balance, body posture, [and] it can help boost your metabolism.”

4. Lovi Poe

As someone who isn’t shy about flaunting her toned abs on her Instagram posts, Bench Active ambassador Lovi Poe is undeniably one of our celeb fitspirations. For a more specific workout routine to help discipline yourself, turn on the actress’ eight minute ab workout video with Bench.

5. Coleen Garcia

Coleen Garcia’s one-minute routine is perfect if you don’t have any equipment at home, and you only have time for a quickie in between school or work. Below, check out how she achieves her “rock-hard abs,” with an exercise you can pull-off almost anywhere. She even mentions a few hacks to ensure that your core goals eventually take shape.

6. Kim Chiu

Kim Chiu’s ab workout consists of 18 exercise positions, but don’t get too intimidated because she reminds you to take breaks in between. The best part is you only need a yoga mat for this one, too. Her routine involves reverse crunches, cross body high planks, Russian twists, varying types of planks, and flutter kicks, to name a few.
