Did you know that she got her first tattoo when she was 17?

Unless you're really eagle-eyed, you might not be able to tell that Max Collins is tattooed at all. The mom and actress' inks are so subtle, only peeping through when she's in crop tops and swimsuits. She only recently talked about them on her YouTube channel, and shared the stories behind the designs, too!

In the video, Max says that she prefers tattoos of words over other designs. She has a total of three, and they all hold a special meaning for her. "I feel like even when I'm old 'di ako magsasawa looking at my tatts," she explains.

If youre looking for inspo for discreet, meaningful tattoos, Max's inks might just give you an idea for your next one. Scroll ahead to find out more about her tattoos!

The Meanings Behind Max Collins' Tattoos

1. Latin quote on her hip

Max got her first tattoo at the age of 17. It was a matching one with her best friend, who was set to migrate to the US. "I did it on my hip because I had to hide my tattoo from my mom," the actress shares.

Max said she wanted a meaningful design for her first ink, so it had to be about god or her family. In the end, she chose the phrase "dei sub numine viget," which translates to "under God's power she flourishes" in Latin. Her friend had another Latin phrase inked on her forearm.

Aside from being discreet, Max recommends hip tattoos because she hardly felt any pain during her session. And that's coming from someone who's afraid of needles! Max claims the pricks in that area were tolerable, so it's a great choice for first-timers.

2. "My Skye" on her side

12 years passed before Max had her next ink, and by then, she was already a mother to her baby boy Skye. She had the words "my Skye" written on her side in cursive by Vimana Tattoo Studio. Take note that this was done after she had stopped breastfeeding, as tattoos are a no-no for breastfeeding moms.

What Max loves about this placement is that it's only visible when she's wearing crop tops or bikinis. Even then, the ink only peeps out of the fabric, creating such a dainty feel.

3. Her son's birthday in Roman numerals on her back

Max's third tattoo is also dedicated to her son. She said she was thinking of a date that's significant for her, and Skye's birthday was the no-brainer choice. To switch it up a little, the actress had the date inked in Roman numerals, placing it on the left side of her back. Skye was born on July 6, 2020.
