Here's a newbie makeup guide for you!

We're aware that it's tricky to pull off dark lipstick. A strong lip may seem overwhelming or over the top, particularly when you're so used to MLBB colors. So, we're here to change your mind about it. Trust us when we say that a deep hue will flatter your skin tone, especially if you're on the morena side. Plus, a swipe of dark lipstick can uplift your mood—you'll feel more confident to face the day's challenges.

Below, we teach you all the things you need to learn if you want to wear dark lipstick:

1. Pick a shade that flatters your undertones.

Most Filipinas are born with golden or warm undertones so dark lipsticks with a toasted hue will automatically look great. Look for lipsticks with the words "brown," "cinnamon," "toasted," or "wine"—you'll never go wrong with these shades.

2. Prep with a lip scrub and lip balm.

Putting on dark lipstick on chapped lips is a big no-no. This is not cute, and your lippie won't last, too. Slough away the flaky skin with a lip scrub and then moisturize with a lip balm.

2. Outline with a lip liner.

To help you apply dark lipstick without going outside your lip line, outline your lips with a lip liner in a natural hue or one that is close to your dark lipstick shade. This step will also prevent your bold lip from bleeding throughout the day.

3. Apply with caution.

Dark lipstick calls for steady hands during application. We recommend that you use a lip brush for precision, but if that isn't an option, you can carefully swipe the bullet directly on your lips. Start at the center of your lips going outwards, and erase the mistakes with a cotton bud dipped in makeup remover.

4. Blot, reapply, and repeat.

For dark lipstick (or any other shade) to last, blot the first layer of lippie with a tissue and reapply. Repeat this step until you get the desired amount of pigment. To prevent having lipstick on your teeth, suck your forefinger to remove excess product. As awkward as this step might seem, it works.

5. Add warmth to your face.

The dark lipstick creates a sharp contrast against a bare complexion. It's important to wear bronzer or blush to avoid looking dead. Filling in your brows and curling your lashes will complete the look.
