Last September 13, SZA was among the 70,000 spectators at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, to witness the match-up between undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Álvarez and four-division titleholder Terence Crawford.

Accompanied by fellow singer Lizzo, the R&B star arrived in a vivid ensemble: a multicolored, low-cut bodysuit paired with a floor-length, feather-trimmed coat in a bright lime hue.

Days later, Filipina designer Patty Ang disclosed through her Instagram Stories that the statement coat worn by the American performer was, in fact, one of her custom designs.

In a brief interview with Preview, Patty revealed that SZA’s team reached out to her US agency. From there, they curated a selection from the pieces she had available.

“When designing these pieces, we considered what is currently working in the US fashion scene for events and red carpet looks,” she explained. “This sheer lime coat with ostrich feather trim is one of our signature silhouettes, and we’re excited it caught the attention of SZA and her team.”

For those unacquainted with Patty’s aesthetic, the piece bore hallmarks of her signature style. Lime tones and feather accents have consistently appeared across her previous collections, most notably during her 2024 BYS Fashion Week showcase.

Not to mention, Patty is also no stranger to dressing global names. Numerous South Korean celebrities have worn pieces from her lifestyle label, Patton, and she also recently designed a look for supermodel Karolína Kurková for the Freakier Friday premiere in Los Angeles, California.
