Catriona Gray is more than ready to conquer the Miss Universe 2018 stage and claim her crown as she dazzled in a dress inspired by the fated jewel to grace the winner's head.
For the pageant's preliminary evening gown portion, the 24-year old looked like a rising phoenix in her Mak Tumang gown with a silhouette also reminiscent of the Ibong Adarna. "Her willpower and burning passion drive her to make every Filipino proud in whatever she does. She is the blazing Adarna! Watch her rise in glory along with our hopes and dreams for our beloved country: the Philippines!" the designer's Instagram post reads.
The strapless, V-neckline gown, called Adarna: The Blazing Siren, opens up to a slit at the waist, accentuating Catriona's long, toned legs. It consists of individual feathers sewn together, and emblazoned with meticulously handplaced crystals, creating flaming imagery similar to the Mikimoto crown.
Catriona completed her look with a pair of nude platform heels, and gold dangling earrings in the form of the Philippine flag's three stars and a sun, of which she designed herself. A clear variation of the ear cuffs she originally wore from her Binibining Pilipinas days.
I mean, Katniss Everdeen who? That gown with her jaw-dropping lava walk? The woman on fire has arrived!
