Fashion is not just a feast for the eyes, it's also a tactile craft. Hence, creativity in making clothes also transcends to touch. Bamba Limon expertly demonstrates this in his latest collection. The Davao-based designer took his pastel monochromes and elevated them by adding floral appliqués—some in 3D embellishments, some with subtle beadwork and intricate embroidery. Bamba married 1930s glamour with traditional Parisian elements. Models sashayed on the catwalk as they donned haute takes on the cloache hats, high-slit dresses, scarves, and gold statement earrings. He also used feathers, pleats, and shiny satin to bring his elaborate prints to life. Such employment of different textiles and fabrics instantly added a luxurious feel to each of the looks. And with a fusion of delicate fabrics and lush patterns, there’s a distinctly old-world feel about Bamba’s pieces as it mimics the grandeur of the past.
