Major Coachella vibes.

An 18th birthday party usually isn't complete without a ball gown, but it's 2018—such grandeur is no longer the norm. Taki Saito, for example, ditched the princess theme for a Coachella-inspired, tropical celebration for her big day. She even kept her outfit extra summer-friendly with breezy coordinates!

According to designer Daryl Maat, skipping formal garb was the debutante's idea. "She wanted something long and in-theme but not a ballgown," he tells Preview. "The color, though, was [my idea], because she also wanted to stand out from the crowd and in the venue."

Taki wanted her outfit to symbolize her welcoming adulthood, which inspired the designer to use sheer fabric. "I made the skirt sheer, in chiffon, and put a slit to make her look tall," Daryl explains. He then added a hint of coverage to the embroidered crop top with sheer lining, giving the look more shape and flounce.

Even her makeup was created to match the theme: a youthful and dewy look with the most adorable combination of colors. Taki's makeup artist Inyaki Yuson mixed face oil with a gel-based foundation to give her a natural glow that didn't look heavy on the skin. His party-ready makeup tip? Well-moisturized skin and spraying the finished look with setting spray to lock everything in.

For Taki's signature flush, the makeup blended MAC's Powder Blush in Fleur Power on the cheeks and added more glow with the brand's Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade. And in case you're wondering how her lips looked so juicy, it's from layering clear lip gloss over a vibrant coral lipstick (Sushi Kiss, also from MAC). And her eyes? Pressed gold pigments on top of rosy shadow!
