Whatever your creative pursuits are, the quarantine has probably proved one thing: that limitations really do bring out the best of your creativity. Just look at all our DIY projects, kitchen experiments, and WFH outfits, as proof! Well, if you’ve been running a little dry on inspiration lately or you’re looking for a new project to take on, perhaps Converse’s latest campaign will fuel your creative juices.
In the spirit of enabling artists holed up in their homes during quarantine, classic sneaker brand Converse recently unveiled the #CreateAtHome campaign. It’s an open call for creative submissions for a chance to be showcased across the brand’s Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok accounts. Aside from that, there’s even a possibility of being tapped by the brand for commissioned content! Ultimately, it’s a move to remind artists that creativity knows no bounds, that nothing can kill that creative spark in you.
And since this challenge is all about exploring where your imagination (and resourcefulness) can take you, you can submit anything under the sun. Examples are photographs, videos, visual design, 3D animation, graphic design, and traditional art. If you’re interested in joining the fun but aren’t sure of where to begin, here are some entries that might give you bright ideas:
1. Mixed media
This artist stitched together photos of Converse sneakers, sketches, and layered them all into a trippy digital collage.
2. Logo reinterpretation
This artist created her own logo study featuring a nature motif.
3. Art meets reality
This artist illustrated her very own pair of yellow Converse sneakers to make it look like she’s wearing cartoon shoes!
This artist created a painting featuring brushstrokes reminiscent of sneaker laces.
5. DIY sneaker design
Perhaps the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the words “Converse” and “creative project” is to decorate your sneakers. This artist splattered paint on his pair, but we reckon you can go crazy by using other materials like markers, patches, colorful fabric, and even beads.
Whatever project you choose to endeavor, the #CreateAtHome campaign will hopefully remind you that as long as there’s a canvas—whether it’s your white sneakers, a Photoshop blank, or one on an easel—art can always take shape.
