Since the Dalgona coffee trend emerged and took over social media by storm, our feeds were filled with frothy beverages, and our arms were as tired—and toned—as they could ever be. For weeks, it seemed like Dalgona coffee would never die. But here’s a bit of foodie news that will snap you out of your long-gone Dalgona daydream. There are two new beverages in town: whipped strawberry milk and whipped Nutella are the latest trendy alternatives! They’re just as easy (er, difficult) to make, and equally Instagrammable. Plus, they’re caffeine-free, so you can enjoy them as a delicious nightcap or post-dinner dessert without worrying about staying awake all night.
Whipped strawberry milk is basically a dreamy pink cloud of powdered strawberry milk atop a glass of cold fresh milk. On the other hand, whipped Nutella is exactly like Dalgona, but the coffee foam is replaced with a hazelnut chocolatey cloud.
Valentina Mussi a.k.a. the girl behind foodie IG account @sweetportfolio has shared her quick and easy recipes online. Check them out below and try not to drool:
To make the whipped strawberry foam, you only need 1 tablespoon of powdered strawberry milk and ¼ cup of heavy whipping cream. Similar to creating Dalgona coffee, mix these ingredients and whip ‘em up by manually whisking it or by using an electric mixer. Serve on top of milk.
As for the whipped Nutella, use 1 tablespoon of Nutella mixed with â…“ heavy whipping cream. Whisk ‘til fluffy and place a generous serving on top of milk.
Once you’re done creating this latest quarantine beverage, here are some presentation ideas to maximize your masterpiece’s Instagrammable factor.
1. Dust the rim of your glass with strawberry powder and add one strawberry on top.
2. Serve in mason jars.
3. For your whipped Nutella drink, line the rim with a layer of the hazelnutty spread.
4. Make it a real treat by topping it off with your favorite chocolate snacks.
You’ve probably mastered creating Dalgona coffee by now, so these two drinks should be a breeze. Plus, given the metro’s increasing temperatures, sipping on another ice-cold beverage is always a good idea.
