Filipino pop royalty, Sarah Geronimo, is at it again! Four years after its initial release, the now-viral Tala continues to dominate, this time, not just in the local scene, but worldwide.
In a post by the official Twitter account of Billboard Charts, Tala was shown to have debuted in the World Digital Song Sales Chart this week at #12, joining known K-pop acts like Younha, Loona, and Exo's Baek-hyun.
Billboard's weekly lists are based on the most played songs both on the radio and through online streaming in the United States. Tala is the only Filipino song to appear in their charts this week.
Launched in 2015 as the lead single to Sarah's 12th studio alum, The Great Unknown, Tala has since seen an unprecedented amount of fame online after its resurgence late last year. Aside from trending on Twitter thanks to hundreds of Filipinos taking on the #TalaDanceChallenge, it also managed to enter Spotify's Global Top 50 playlist just a few weeks ago.
Thankful for the four-year-old song's newfound fame, Sarah's reportedly set to release a new acoustic version of Tala today, January 17. She first posted a short snippet of the song on Instagram yesterday, but it has since been taken down.
