Yep, in case you somehow missed the memo, the Hallyu star is set to grace our screens once again, just a year after It’s Okay to Not Be Okay. Veering away from his usual romance-driven roles, Soo Hyun will step into the shoes of a student-turned-murder suspect in the crime thriller One Ordinary Day. The Plot
One Ordinary Day is a remake of the 2008 BBC series Criminal Justice. It follows the plight of Kim Hyun-soo, an ordinary college student whose prosaic life takes an unexpected turn when he’s named the prime suspect in a murder case. The odds seem to be against him when the only person willing to help is a third-rate lawyer who barely passed the bar exam. As per the show’s producers, “One Ordinary Day is not merely a straightforward crime drama, but instead a drama that showcases in detail the psychology of the various characters entangled in the crime.”
The Cast
Soo Hyun takes on yet another emotional role as the accused Hyun-soo who, based off early previews from the show, is desperate to prove his innocence. On casting Soo Hyun for the series, another producer commented, “Kim Soo Hyun is an actor who rejects stereotypes and conveys refreshing, touching emotion every time through his acting.”
If previous reports are true, then the Hallyu star is earning a hefty salary for this project. ICYMI, South Korean news outlet OSEN revealed back in March that Soo Hyun is most likely being paid a whopping 500 million won (approximately P21.4 million) for every episode of One Ordinary Day.
Meanwhile, playing the part of Shin Joong-han, a.k.a. Hyun-soo’s questionable lawyer, is Cha Seung Won. The veteran actor is best known for his work on A Korean Odyssey and The Greatest Love.
When the Devil Calls Your Name actress Lee Seol is also joining the cast as Seo Soo-jin, a bright, rookie lawyer who crosses paths with Joong-han at court.
The Crew
Director Lee Myung Woo takes the reins on One Ordinary Day. K-drama fans might be familiar with his work on shows like The Fiery Priest and Backstreet Rookie. On the other hand, the script is being penned by writer Kwoon Soon Gyu (The Royal Gambler, Goddess of Fire).
Where to Watch
One Ordinary Day will premiere on November 27. Fans can watch the show on the Korean streaming service Coupang Play, which is currently only available for Android users on Google Play.
