We’ve already seen our fair share of legal K-dramas in recent years from Law School to The Devil Judge to Juvenile Justice, but perhaps none of them will tug at your heartstrings as much as Extraordinary Attorney Woo will. The new offering from ENA and Netflix chronicles the everyday life of Woo Young-woo, a lawyer in the autism spectrum. The plot is structured in the same vein as The Good Doctor, a 2013 medical drama that also featured a savant lead on the spectrum. The Plot

27-year-old Woo Young-woo is a genius lawyer on the autism spectrum. With her IQ of 164, her creative mind, and her perfect memory, she’d be unstoppable at work, if only her awkward social skills didn’t get in the way. When she starts her new job at a prominent law firm, she’s met with prejudiced people ready to discredit her at first glance all because of her autism. Luckily, Young-woo is a fighter who’s more than capable of taking on any case thrown her way.

The Cast

Award-winning actress Park Eun Bin leads the charge as the titular Young-woo. In an interview with Allure Korea, she revealed that she was initially worried about taking on the role, explaining that she didn’t want to potentially offend anyone with her portrayal. “It’s my first genius-type character, and Young-woo is also on the autism spectrum. I think I thought about what is considered to be normal when taking on this role. What is it to be weird, what is it to be abnormal, and are normal people really normal?” she shared.

Before Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Eun Bin starred in The King’s Affection, Do You Like Brahms?, and Hot Stove League.

Jun-ho is a law firm employee who often gets attention from his female colleagues for his good looks and charming personality. However, he’s uninterested in dating and would rather focus on his work, up until he meets the intriguing Young-woo.
