The "Hospital Playlist" Cast Members Who Appear in "Resident Playbook"

Resident Playbook has quickly become a treat for K-drama fans, especially those still nursing a soft spot for the beloved Hospital Playlist crew.

A spin-off series by the minds behind the Reply franchise—director Shin Won Ho and writer Lee Woo Jung—the Netflix-streaming medical drama zooms in on a group of OB-GYN residents navigating the chaos and camaraderie of their first year at Yulje Medical Center.

As expected from the shared universe, viewers have been treated to surprise appearances from several familiar faces, blending nostalgia with fresh storytelling. Here’s a rundown of the Hospital Playlist alumni who’ve scrubbed back in.

In episode two, Ahn Eun Jin reprises her role as OB-GYN resident-turned-doctor Chu Min-ha, now clearly thriving in her post-residency life. When she spots Oh Yi-young (Go Yoon Jung) struggling and seemingly ready to call it quits, Chu Min-ha steps in with warmth, wisdom, and just the right nudge to keep her going. A subtle phone call filled with endearing banter confirms she’s married to Yang Seok-hyung (Kim Dae Myung), delighting longtime fans who rooted for their romance in the original series.

Episode three brings a humorous elevator scene featuring Yong Seok-min (Moon Tae Yu) and Heo Seon-bin (Ha Yoon Kyung), both now further along in their careers. A classic case of mistaken attraction plays out as new resident Pyo Nam-kyung (Shin Si Ah) misreads Seok-min’s lingering gazes, only to realize they were directed at Seon-bin all along.

The ever-sharp Kim Jun-wan (Jung Kyung Ho) makes his presence felt in episode 4 during a high-stakes consultation at the Jongno branch. Still the no-nonsense cardiothoracic surgeon, he grills Oh Yi-young for her incomplete case assessment, only to reveal a more compassionate side later. The scene is punctuated by a phone call from fellow Hospital Playlist character Do Jae-hak (Jung Moon Sung), and an understated detail—a wedding ring—suggests Jun-wan’s romance with Lee Ik-soon (Kwak Sun Young) may have found its happy ending.

Though Yoo Yeon Seok’s appearance as pediatric surgeon Ahn Jung-won hasn’t been the most prominent yet, teasers hint at a potential cameo. In fact, the preview for episode 5 has heightened expectations, with fans anticipating a memorable return. With other main characters crossing over, we’re eager to see more interactions between the original Yulje doctors and the new generation.
