Gossip Girl was a television series synonymous to a pop culture phenomenon. Redefining the genre of teen dramas, it heavily influenced the fashion, aesthetic, and social media-style tattle of the youth.

The show ran from 2007 to 2012. Its primary cast starred Blake Lively as Serena van der Woodsen, Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf, Chace Crawford as Nate Archibald, Ed Westwick as Chuck Bass, and Penn Badgley as Dan Humphrey. HBO Max led its reboot in 2021, which ran for two seasons and featured faces unfamiliar to the avid viewers of the original show.
The franchise remained dormant after that... until a most recent development.
Gossip Girl Author Is Writing a New Sequel Centered on Blair Waldorf
Before it graced television screens with savage dialogues, iconic designer outfits, and a not-so-glamorous peek into the lives of glamorous New Yorkers, Gossip Girl was first a book series composed of 13 novels. Its author, Cecily von Ziegesar, has revealed that it will be returning to its original form.
Deadline reports that a standalone novel is in the works. Appropriately titled Blair, it will be centered on the fan-favorite Queen B. After all—and as she has acknowledged it herself—not everyone can be Blair Waldorf.
Entertainment Weekly has revealed that the narrative will be set two decades after the original series, which means the titular character will be navigating life in her 40s. The novel will follow the beloved socialite’s return to the Big Apple, probably wreaking havoc in ways that only she can—while wearing statement headbands and enviable clothes, most likely.
Will the other members of the Manhattan elite be with her? Nothing is for certain. We'll just have to wait for the book’s release, projected to take place in 2027. Til then, XOXO!
