The celebrity couple took to Instagram to announce the big news, sharing snippets of the moment when the 44-year-old actor popped the question. "Game over," Ellen simply captioned her post, showing off the huge pear-shaped diamond on her engagement ring.
Derek's proposal featured a simple yet romantic setup with a custom neon sign hanging on a curtained wall, which says, "Will you marry me?" The 32-year-old actress, clearly caught by surprise in her oversized black T-shirt, was teary-eyed and emotional in the photos.

Rumors romantically linking Ellen and Derek together were first reported in January 2021. A month later, the two officially confirmed their relationship.
In a previous interview where Derek was asked about marriage and his relationship with Ellen, the actor candidly answered, "I'll be lying to you, to myself, and to everyone if I didn't say that [Ellen is] the girl I want to spend the rest of my life with."
