Hear ye, hear ye! Who here missed Lady Whistledown and the entire Bridgerton family? Everyone’s been on the edge of their seats after season one’s marvelous run, and now the long wait is finally over. Netflix just announced that Bridgerton is returning for a second season on March 25, 2022.
Unlike the first season, which followed the enchanting love story of Daphne Bridgerton and the Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset, season two follows our beloved eldest brother, Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, who was left at a crossroads last time we saw him. With new characters joining the game, everyone is eager to see how this social season will play out, especially since we heard the dynamic between him and his ladies (yes, two!) will be an all-time favorite trope: a feisty love triangle.
Here’s your first look at season two of "Bridgerton":
Shondaland and creator Cris Van Dusen reveals the full Netflix synopsis for this season and it reads: “The second season of Bridgerton follows Lord Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), the eldest Bridgerton sibling and Viscount, as he sets out to find a suitable wife. Driven by his duty to uphold the family name, Anthony’s search for a debutante who meets his impossible standards seems ill-fated until Kate (Simone Ashley) and her younger sister Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran) arrive from India."
"When Anthony begins to court Edwina, Kate discovers the true nature of his intentions—a true love match is not high on his priority list—and decides to do everything in her power to stop the union. But in doing so, Kate and Anthony’s verbal sparring matches only bring them closer together, complicating matters on both sides. Across Grosvenor Square, the Featheringtons must welcome the newest heir to their estate while Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) continues to navigate the ton whilst keeping her deepest secret from the people closest to her.”
As Lady Whistledown herself put it, the Bridgertons just make us plummet to unthinkable depths—of excitement, of course! Good news is that seasons three and four are already confirmed by Netflix and are in production, which nearly makes up for the fact that our favorite Duke of Hastings will not be returning. But don't fret, there's tea brewing that Kate and Anthony's enemies-to-lovers combo will set the tone for the season, so no worries!
