Anyone who's been through standard Filipino education is at least a wee bit familiar with the story of Noli Me Tangere. Jose Rizal's obra maestra speaks of the national hero's own plight, and his wishes to educate his fellow indios during the time of Spanish occupation. A crucial subplot in the art-imitates-life tale was that of Sisa, a mother who descended into insanity after losing both of her children, Basilio and Crispin.

Many viewers get to revisit her story with GMA's latest buzzworthy teleserye Maria Clara at Ibarra. The newest episode of the TV series centered around a pinaccle scene in the novel: Sisa breaking down after her two hijos, her only family, were nowhere to be found. Kapuso actress Andrea Torres played out the heartbreaking sequence in what many consider to be her most impecabble performance to date.

As Sisa helplessly wailed for her two sons to return to her, the audience was left with nothing but admiration for how incredibly well Andrea executed the scene. Many were left with tears in their eyes, and some were even practically handing her a Best Actress accolade already.

Many netizens were simply captivated by how skillfully the 32-year-old let the spirit of Sisa "possess" her. One netizen appreciated how authentically she exhibited the emotions of a mother who was unwillingly separated from her children. "Hell hath no fury than a women whose children has been scorned," they wrote.

Prior to Andrea's six minutes of on-screen agony, Sisa's name, as fictional as it may be, has become some sort of colloquial term for someone "going crazy." But with this episode, viewers were able to finally see the raw humanity behind the character. One Twitter user perfectly put it: "She represents the unfortunate, the ridiculed, and the brave."

Andrea caught on all the love her performance was getting and had nothing but gratitude for all the kind words. "Sobra ko'ng na-appreciate... Lalo na 'pag sinasabi niyo na 'di na lang basta baliw si Sisa sa paningin niyo," she stated. Child actor Kian Co, who played her "son" Crispin also congratulated the actress on her work.
