Noah Centineo is swiftly becoming everyone’s favorite leading man with three romantic comedy flicks in a span of just a year—To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before was released August of 2018, and we’ve been on a Peter Kavinsky high since then. Shortly after, Sierra Burgess Is a Loser also started streaming on Netflix. Fast forward to today and we’ve got ourselves The Perfect Date, the streaming service’s latest rom-com offering featuring Noah on his first-ever titular role. We’d say “keep it coming, Netflix!” but we’re pretty sure they already got the memo (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before sequel is already in the works, FYI!).
That said, when Netflix offered to give us first dibs on The Perfect Date and a chance to do a face-to-face interview with Noah himself, we couldn't possibly have declined our golden ticket to meeting the man of the hour. Preview recently flew to Los Angeles, California to have a quick chat with him—25 minutes, to be exact! Below, allow us to share with you the five things we discovered about Noah Centineo.
1. In his new movie, he literally plays everyone’s boyfriend.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, you could try Googling “internet’s boyfriend” and Noah Centineo’s name would be the first thing you’d see. It’s a title bestowed upon him by social media, and he personally finds it “endearing” and “cute.” That said, his co-star Laura Marano even pointed out that she finds it amusing how Noah literally “[does] play everyone’s boyfriend” in their new movie The Perfect Date. “It’s a weird coincidence that I just keep playing boyfriends,” Noah chimes in.
2. He had no clue how popular he is in the Philippines.
When asked if he had any idea how huge he is in the Philippines, he just returned the question, confused, “Really?” He was, however, aware about his giant billboard in EDSA—“For Bench, right? That I do know.”
3. The Perfect Date is Noah’s biggest role to date, and his co-stars agree that he “killed” it.
Noah’s co-stars only had great things to say about his acting chops in The Perfect Date. Odiseas Georgiadis, who plays his best friend Murph, practically announced during the roundtable interview that Noah “merked” the movie, “which means he’s amazing; which means he killed it!” He then turns to Noah, “From top to bottom, especially the emotional scenes and everything… In To All The Boys, like, I saw that you went in, but you had more of a chance to really take this role and you really did it, bro! It was amazing.”
4. His idea of a perfect date is with someone who’s into self-love.
“I look for someone who’s into taking care of themselves—they’re committed to yoga, they’re committed to hiking, they’re committed to something. They take care of their body,” Noah says. “Someone who gives off the vibe that they [care] about this world, this planet, and the people inhabiting it. Someone who listens but also knows how to speak and communicate effectively and isn’t afraid to do so.”
5. He’s coming to the Philippines real soon!
Yup, Noah said so himself: “Im actually gonna be coming to the Philippines. I believe [I’m coming] to Manila at some point this year. It should be very fun. I can’t wait to see you guys!”
Exciting, right? As to when exactly that will be, don’t worry because we’ll be sure to keep you updated! In the meantime, we suggest you watch Noah’s latest flick while you wait. The Perfect Date is now streaming on Netflix.
