What makes a perfect everyday mascara varies from person to person. But on a no-makeup kind of day, some of you might want a product that lengthens your lashes without looking like you have anything on them—a no-mascara mascara, if you will. While we all have our favorite products that give that effect, there's this one mascara trick we always use to make our lashes look naturally long and fluttery.

Here's how to do it:

Step 1: Curl your lashes.

This step is pretty self-explanatory. Grab your favorite eyelash curler and make sure those lashes stand at attention!

Step 2: Wipe off excess mascara on a tissue.

One of the biggest reasons your lashes appear clumpy is because you had too much mascara on your spoolie, especially if your everyday choice of mascara is one with fibers. Here, we used Canmake's Gokunobi Mascara (P660, SM Makati).

If you want a more natural effect, wipe the excess with a tissue before using it on your lashes. For mascaras with thicker formulas, this tissue method will also help avoid product buildup along the tube's rim.

Step 3: Apply the mascara.

As you apply your mascara using the wiped-down wand, you'll notice that the coating is thinner and more even, and without the excess product, the brush actually has room to comb your lashes upwards. You can even apply a second coat and it will be less likely for your lashes to clump!

Now, here's what our lashes look like when we don't do this technique and apply the mascara straight from the tube. See how obvious the mascara is?
