Tired of your usual gradient lip?

With the lip gloss making a comeback, we can't help feeling major nostalgia. We can’t forget the collective “pains” we have with the iconic 2000s essential. Having strands of your hair stick to your lips; only to brush it away and have the gloss paint a masterpiece out of your face—is something we don’t want a repeat of in 2022.

Fortunately, the innovative beauty market of today has seen, experienced, and heard our plea. Specifically in K-beauty, we’ve noticed that their lip glosses have been formulated to be non-sticky and lightweight. They've convinced us to give gloss a shot again, and then combine it with the best parts of the Korean gradient lip. The result? A delicious, juicy, "jelly lip" that's totally wearable on the daily.

The Inspiration

What started it all for us was this TikTok video by LA-based content creator, Vi Luong. In the seven second clip, Luong said how she prefers a certain Korean lip glosses over American ones due to their lightweight and non-sticky formulas. The gloss in question? The Glasting Water Gloss by Romand

The Products

Anyone can see how lush Luong’s lips looked with the use of one product. So we hopped over to Romand’s Instagram and found that the Glasting Water Gloss has a partner, the Glasting Water Tint

Look familiar? We thought so, too. The soft wash of color glazed with a dewy sheen has “jelly lip” written all over it. The tint also comes in several ‘your lips but better’ shades; making this look perfect for that ‘everyday with a touch of magic’ vibe!

Now that we know what we want to achieve, let’s go ahead and make jelly lips a reality.

A Step-by-Step Guide to Achieving "Jelly Lips"

Step 1: Hydrate Your Lips

We can’t start our look with dry, cracked lips, can we? So go ahead and use your favorite lip balm, or in our case, the Laneige lip sleeping mask, to add hydration and plump your lips.

Step 2: Lip Base (Optional)

To make the tint’s true color come through, apply a touch of concealer to your lips to subdue your natural lip shade, and then blend. This will create a great starting canvas for the tint to shine.

Step 3: Tint

Swipe the Glasting Water Tint over your lips; focusing on the center and pressing your lips together with each application. Depending on how intense you’d like the color of your jelly lips to be, feel free to add more layers. (We personally added three layers!)

Step 4: Gloss

For the final touch, take your lip gloss and apply on-top of the tint. Add more (or less) gloss based on how luscious you want your lips to be!

Finished Look

Valentine’s day may be over, but we are in love! Not only is the end result exactly what we wanted to achieve, but the execution was really simple and easy. Despite applying three layers of the glasting water tint, the formula stayed true to its lightweight and non-sticky claims. The same can be said for the gloss—not once did the product feel heavy nor did our hair stick to our lips.
