If you have a stash of perfume on your vanity, then you probably own popular fragrances like the Chanel N°5, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, and Marc Jacobs Daisy. These perfumes are definitely classics at this point, so it's no wonder why so many people love catching a whiff of them.

However, since these scents are so popular, it's not impossible to bump into someone wearing them, too. Surely, there’s nothing wrong about that, but if you want to switch things up with a fragrance that’s more unique, you can try creating a whole new scent just by layering. Who knows, you might even adore it more than your current favorite perfume! But if you’re unsure, consider this your beginner's guide to to mixing and matching your fragrances.

How to Layer Fragrances

1. List down the notes of your favorite perfumes.

Creating your new fragrance concoction will solely rely on experimentation, but if you want to start in the right direction, listing down the notes that your perfume carries will help in developing a hit scent. If your two chosen fragrances share similar notes, then they’ll most likely jive well together when layered. Although, you should not be scared of mixing contrasting fragrances, too, because they can still reveal a scent that’s unexpectedly pleasant.

2. Avoid putting two intense scents together.

The reason you should avoid pairing two heavy perfumes together is that it could cause your mix to become overwhelming or cloying. Instead, partner your concentrated perfumes with a light blend for a more balanced approach. Spray the heavy perfume on your pulse points first, then followed by your chosen light scent. This allows your lighter perfume’s aroma to flow and not be overpowered.

3. Spray different perfumes on each pulse point.

You don't necessarily need to spray your perfumes on top of each other to layer them! You can also spritz your two perfumes separately on each pulse point, which will have you smelling different from every direction.

Here are scent pairings you should try if you want to get into fragrance layering:

1. Floral: Jo Malone London Honeysuckle & Davana Cologne + Poppy & Barley Cologne +
