Ever since strobing was declared as the makeup trend of the century, we’ve been obsessing over how to ace it properly. Because while it’s much more forgiving than contouring, having too much fun with highlighting can leave one looking like a Cullen or a greasy hot mess.
But Louise Zizzo, Senior Artist of MAC Cosmetics in San Francisco, says it's all about where you put your product.
“You want to watch out for your ‘hot spots’ as I like to call them. Do not apply highlighter in-between your brows, underneath the eyes, the nostrils, the tip of the nose and chin if you don’t want to look sweaty,” she said. She notes that putting mattifying products—like powders or primers—on these areas will pull your look together, and you won’t have to worry about looking like an oil slick.
Time to bust out those highlighting products and practice!
