In 1997, Estée Lauder unveiled the Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation. It has been almost three decades since then, but the beauty community continues to rave about the holy grail.
Makeup artist Muriel Vega Perez once told Preview, “It’s the fresh matte foundation that looks flawless whatever comes your way.” Its resistance to sweat, heat, and humidity is one of the reasons he described it as “lifeproof.” Chynna Lim also believes it’s “an icon for a reason!” The foundation, according to the beauty content creator, covers up blemishes without looking too thick.
Even the new generation of beauty enthusiasts loves it. Another content creator, Kylie Celebre, calls it “the most long-lasting foundation I’ve ever tried,” hailing it as a product that’s truly worth investing in.
With such rave reviews, Estée Lauder makes a brave move—the Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation is getting a makeover.
Estée Lauder Is Reformulating the Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation
That’s right, a revamped version of the beloved foundation is coming. It’s just like the classic one—but a lot better, the brand claims.
How, you ask? For seven years, Estée Lauder has been working to improve the holy grail foundation. The new version that’s about to hit the shelves soon still has medium-to-full coverage, but with a lot less weight. It’s more breathable, so you can wear a thin layer just like a skin tint, or build it up to the full glam look that the classic is known for.

Beauty insiders expressed to Preview that the 24-hour wear is one of their favorite things about the foundation. This time, it has been innovated to last 36 hours—oil control and color-true longwear covered.
When applying the reintroduced Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation, you’ll notice the instant hydration it gives. This is due to the fact that it contains more skincare benefits in comparison.
It’s powered with Polymer Mesh Matrix Technology that allows the product to move with your skin, not against it. AlgaNiacin™ is blended into the non-comedogenic foundation, working with Brown Algae Extract and Niacinamide to balance the skin and reduce oil production. To deliver and maintain moisture, Glycerin and Hyaluronic Acid are infused as well.

It’s important to note, however, that switching to the new formula would require you to explore new shades to find the most suitable shade match. It’s still the flawless and dimensional foundation that we all love, but now made for more.
