You don't have to miss getting dolled up.

Not gonna lie, makeup is therapeutic. The quarantine's got me missing my routine face beat in the morning before heading out. Getting ready—unhurriedly, taking my sweet time— starts off the day on a resolutely productive and enthusiastic note, and I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Now, we've already made a case for dressing up for remote work (you can check out this Instagram account if you need more convincing). This had us thinking: We could go all the way and dip right back into our makeup kits. Makeup artist Sylvina Lopez is doing a lewk daily as therapy to combat the uncertainty of our times. So is makeup maven/musician Gabs Gibbsand we're seriously considering following suit.

Why not use some quarantine time to keep practicing your makeup skills? Whether you're (a) a makeup newbie, (b) an aspiring beauty guru, (c) a non-wearer of makeup but avid watcher of makeup vids, or (d) someone who's secretly loved playing with makeup but never got around to seriously documenting the results, you will never go wrong with these six chic 'n' easy go-to looks.

1. "No makeup" makeup

Ah, a classic. Don't be fooled: just because it's a natural-looking face beat doesn't necessarily mean it's the easiest look to achieve, as it does take some effort to afford the appearance of effortlessness. Attempting this look will teach you the significance of picking the right mix of products for your skin type and skin tone. Make sure to grab the lightest foundation or tinted moisturizer in your kit. To get that natural-looking base, you can choose to dilute the product, and apply it minimally and gradually with a damp beauty blender. For the colors, round up a range of shades that match your natural tones!

2. Soft glam

This glam is essentially the barely-there look upgraded, courtesy of the dramatic peepers. This look is incredibly versatile and not too crazy for beginners; just stick to shadow colors that are matte, neutral, and slightly smoky. The MVPs of this look are seamless eyeshadow blending, and long lashes. To complement the dramatic eye, go for a dewy, neutral, and understated finish for your face, since the eye makeup can be a mainstay for several looks featuring a different lippie each time. This light, sultry glam will never go off-trend!

3. Color work

A little goes a long way indeed with this look: It only takes a few swipes of eyeshadow, yet it has the mileage of a rocket. Make sure you have a trusty eye primer to hold your eyeshadow in place and maximize its pigment. After layering on a shadow in the color of your choice, and keep the rest of your face minimal. If you feel like it, you can even skip foundation, and just go with your skincare items, sunscreen, and primer. Don't forget to brush your brows, too!

4. Graphic liner

Time to get creative with another no-foundation look! Boost your regular winged liner with extra flair. Graphic liner might seem intimidating at first, but all you need is the liner pen that you find easiest to work with. It might take some time to get it right, but that's what practice is for, isn't it? And you've certainly got a lot of time to do so now.

While the liner is already a statement on its own, you can opt to combine light yet standout eyeshadow shades to get a look that's a sweet mix of daring and artistic, while remaining totally wearable. The key is to pick colors that lift your eye look instead of making it too severe. You can check out some tutorials online to get inspiration for this dynamic beat.

5. Blurred red lip

It may be time to break the barrier between you and the red lip. Yes, you can pull it off! Thankfully, there are more iterations of the red lip besides the scary image of it you have in mind: It can be anywhere between Marilyn Monroe's deep ruby red to Son Ye-Jin's subdued rosebud lip.  If immediately going for a bright red, matte liquid lippie is too much commitment for you, then ease into vibing this bold pout by using your favorite buildable tints and stained glosses. If you want to avoid a harsh lipline, gently dab the edges of your lips with a clean finger to get that blurred effect. You'll figure out the perfect hue and opacity eventually!

6. Fruity and fresh

We're getting fresh berry vibes from this soft, youthful glam. Until you can hit the beach again, indulge in broad and liberal blush strokes, as well as a fruity combination of colors for your eyes. Prioritize making your skin look like skin, and allow your natural (or natural-looking) freckles to shine through. (Read about how to apply faux freckles here.) Now's the time to put away your matte foundation: Pick a lightweight base, and don't hesitate to mix in a liquid highlighter to fully embrace that pearlescent flush. Champion velvety brows and a sheer pink lippie for a natural, sun-kissed glow.
