Update your scent stash with these standouts!

Our year in fragrances was, for the lack of a better term, a blur. It was a whirlwind of bathing ourselves in perfumes we either loved or ended up regretting later, for the sake of finding ones worthy not only of our personal collections but of yours, too. Luckily, our noses have lived to tell a positive tale. Below, we list the scents that were a pure pleasure to wear, as well as ones that garnered us the most compliments in 2019:

Best Perfumes 2019

1. Tom Ford Lost Cherry

The tartness of black cherries is in no way lost in this perfume. It hits you like a wave, so alluring and distinct that you'd want to wear it again and again to reach that point in its wear time where it finally fuses with a whiff of Turkish rose and roasted tonka.

2. Chanel Les Eaux Paris-Biarritz

This sparkling citrus spray delivers a comforting combination of Sicilian mandarin and lily of the valley, channeling the ease of the coast of Biarritz and its comforting breeze. If you ever want to smell like you're always on vacation, this is the bottle for you.

3. L'Occitane Herbae Par

Herbae Par is a simple, clean, and green fragrance that ticks all the boxes of an everyday spritz. It smells like spring in the countryside, giving you equal portions of fresh herbs, zesty fruit, and sophisticated blooms in one generous serving.

4. Diptyque Dans L'Eau Perfumed Stickers for skin

Diptyque's perfumed stickers renewed our experience with the brand's classic scents. The roses and blackcurrant berry notes in the Dans L'Eau in particular was at its most subtle and sophisticated in this form. It envelopes you in the fragrance without overwhelming you or the nose next to you—just enough of a waft to picture the calm rivers it was inspired by.

5. Chloé Nomade

Chloe's perfumes are always nothing short of timeless. Nomade is no exception, but unlike its predecessors, it breaks expectations by being unapologetically intense. It's woody yet sweet at its heart, with plum and freesia notes resting on a grounding base of mineral oak moss.

6. Narciso Rodriguez Pure Musc

Pure Musc is a blank slate of musk, made to be layered under and over existing fragrances in your collection. It bodes well on its own, too, an elegant and uncomplicated perfume that's sure to impress without making a big deal out of itself. Think of it as a little black dress, in perfume form.

7. Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense

The cult-fave status of the Light Blue has turned it into a challenging fragrance to reinvent, but we think Dolce & Gabbana did this successor right by hardly tweaking it at all. The most significant change is that it's more intense, as its name reveals, improving the scent's longevity so you have that punchy citrus on your skin all day long.

8. Jo Malone London Poppy & Barley

Poppy & Barley was a limited edition cologne, but due to popular demand, it eventually became part of Jo Malone London's permanent range. We don't blame everyone for pleading its comeback though, because we can't resist its addictively juicy and rosy charm either.

9. Dior Miss Dior

Dior gave their most well-loved perfume a makeover this year, and we haven't looked back since. They added lily of the valley to the mix, which is a flower Christian Dior considered a lucky charm. The result? A feminine floral fragrance that presents Miss Dior's classic rose and jasmine notes in a brand new light.

10. Aerin Aegea Blossom

Aegea Blossom captures the serenity of Greece in a sparkling white floral concoction freshened up with the zestiness of bergamot and neroli. It'll give you a glimpse of what a summer in Santorini would feel like sans the need for a plane ticket.
