This year marks Jericho Rosales’ 30th anniversary in entertainment. Within these three decades, we have seen him morph into different characters—a restless lover in Pangako Sa ‘Yo, a humorous hopeless romantic in ABNKKBSNPLAko?!, and even a cunning leader in Quezon, to name a few.

While he slips into these roles effortlessly, he is still most loved and adored when he shows up simply as himself. That’s how he first stepped into the limelight, after all, and that’s why he’s still here today.

Jericho’s longevity—from competing in Eat Bulaga's “Mr. Pogi” in 1996 to starring in director Irene Emma Villamor's The Loved One in 2026—cannot be measured solely by the number of years he has been in the industry or the projects that have defined his career. It is just as evident in the relationships he has built along the way.

Few illustrate this better than his longtime hair and makeup artist, EJ Caro. Preview sat down with him between layouts during the actor's February 2026 cover shoot to talk about who Jericho is when the cameras are off.

At the 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival, Viva Films entered Baler, a romantic war drama directed by Mark Meily.

Set during the final years of Spanish rule in the Philippines, the film traces the forbidden romance between Feliza, the Filipina daughter of a rebel commander, and Celso, a half-Spanish soldier. As expected, their relationship is tested at every turn—most notably during the year-long blockade known as the Siege of Baler.

It marked the first time Anne Curtis and Jericho Rosales shared the silver screen. It was also the first time EJ Caro’s makeup brushes touched the leading man’s face. Nearly two decades later, Anne and Jericho have reunited for another film—and EJ remains right by his side.

Nung nag makeup ako kay Jericho for Baler, nakatutok lang ako sa kanya the whole movie. Doon nag start, then dire-diretso na,” EJ fondly recalls.

On set, Echo is the picture of professionalism, committing fully to what is asked of him. “Kung may pegs, susundin niya,” EJ shared, noting how willing he is to inhabit a role from the inside out. “Kunwari magte-teleserye kami, may mga kailangan siyang looks,” he explained—adjustments that depend entirely on the character he’s portraying, and ones Echo takes on without hesitation.

That same discipline was evident during the cover shoot, where he shifted seamlessly between moods for each layout. When this was pointed out, EJ simply laughed and affirmed, “Oo, ganun siyang tao.”

The Beauty Direction Behind Jericho Rosales’ Preview February 2026 Cover

For Preview’s February 2026 cover, Jericho rocked one hair and makeup look all throughout. His features were merely enhanced, putting his natural charms at the forefront.

EJ describes this look as close to—if not exactly—the direction they typically take. When aiming for natural makeup, he emphasizes adjusting your routine to suit your specific needs. In Echo’s case, hyperpigmentation and melasma tend to sit along the hollows of his cheekbones. “Kailangan i-angat ko lang nang konti,” EJ explained, noting that a touch of highlighter helps lift and brighten the area. He also pays careful attention to the T-zone to ensure the skin looks balanced and refined on camera.

He noted, however, that they sometimes turn these imperfections into a strength and asset, saying that trying too hard to cover them may lead to a thick base and to a skin appearance that’s just not realistic. “Sige, use lang natin ‘yan,” Echo would confidently tell him.

EJ’s pro tip for doing natural looks is to thoroughly prep the skin. Ahead, find the exact products he used on Jericho for shoot day.
