If you're traveling to a country that requires a visa, then be prepared to go through the make-or-break interview process. Even though there's no set dress code (and eventually it all boils down to how you answer the consulate officer's questions), it won't hurt to start with a good first impression by looking clean and presentable.

The key to dressing up for you visa interview? Think smart casual! It strikes the perfect balance between casual and formal dressing. After all, while you don't want to seem like you tried too hard, you also don't want to look like you didn't care at all.

Here are a few sample outfits to get you inspired:

A blazer will always elevate your outfit, even your T-shirt and jeans combo. It's best to wear closed shoes for this one and opt for minimal accesories.

Dresses are always a good way to look put together, but it's best to avoid ones that are too form-fitting. Cinch your flowy dress with a belt for a structured silhouette.
