The necktie is often associated with strict corporate dress codes and formal attire. However, in 2026, the piece proves to be a versatile accessory that can shift—or even set—the tone of any outfit. Recent runway shows have given the necktie a new lease on life through a clever and incredibly easy styling trick.
If you’re still not tucking your ties into your shirts, scroll ahead to find out why you should try it, stat.
The Tucked Necktie Trend, As Seen on the Runway
It’s simple: Take your tie, twist it slightly, and insert it between two buttons of your shirt. Adjust as needed.
The ingenious styling choice first appeared on the Prada Spring/Summer 2004 catwalk. The partially hidden necktie added visual interest and a subtle sense of intrigue to the relaxed ensembles it was paired with. The collection, conceived by Miuccia Prada, felt familiar, coolly chic, and entirely wearable—qualities that menswear continues to seek out two decades later.
The tucked tie made a major comeback at the Saint Laurent Summer 2026 show, where it aligned seamlessly with duochrome palettes, power shoulders, and scrunched-up sleeves. Creative director Anthony Vaccarello approached menswear through a “less strict” lens, softening its codes without stripping away structure.
The styling trick—quickly dubbed the "YSL Tuck" online—reappeared in the house’s Winter 2026 presentation, reinforcing its staying power. Around the same time, Jacquemus also spotlighted the now-infamous tuck during its La Croisière show, further cementing the look as one of the season’s most subtle yet effective shifts in menswear styling.

Celebrities Wearing the Tucked Necktie Trend
Given its ease, the tucked tie has quickly become a go-to for sartorially inclined dressers. Connor Storie of Heated Rivalry fame, as well as Hallyu heartthrob Ahn Hyo Seop, were both spotted embracing the YSL Tuck at separate appearances. Each opted for Saint Laurent’s Summer 2026 Look 10, defined by earthy hues and a silky tie discreetly tucked away.
For Preview's February 2026 cover, consummate leading man Jericho Rosales also gave the tuck a try with pieces from Filipino label R/Studios. Meanwhile, Mingyu of Seventeen was seen attending Dior's Winter 2026 show with a tie in incongnito mode.
