This New Online Shop is a Hub for Top Local Designers We’ve picked our favorite pieces to shop.

The recent turn of events have surfaced a common desire to support local products and craftsmanship. Among the fashion stalwarts who need our support are our Filipino designers who have had to rethink the purpose of their vocation.
A newly launched website called The New Mood is bringing the clothes of both veteran and up-and-coming designers straight from their ateliers and much closer to all of us. The first release features Ivarluski Aseron, Jaggy Glarino, Dennis Lustico, and Lulu Tan-Gan, as well as a beautifully crafted mask by John Herrera.

Each of their 7- to 10-piece collections was thoughtfully produced with the idea of people’s current needs and lifestyles in mind. The common thread is that they are jointly veering away from fast fashion—what you will find in the site are not trend-driven favorites, but rather, stylish pieces you can truly build on and wear for years to come.

Discover the aesthetic of each designer and find our selection from their pieces below.

IVARLUSKI ASERON

Ivarluski’s line has our kind of better-than-basic wear. “My collection is very much structured, very minimalist, with a color palette that is soothing to the eye,” he explains. His take on the classic shirt, shift dress, vest, and bomber jacket are playful, even in muted grays, thanks to cut-and-sewn-on patterns that are dotted with contrasting dark buttons.

JAGGY GLARINO

“I want to create and capture the feeling of exhilaration and comfort that’s why I created my collection in cotton and stretch fabric, so you can wear these pieces at home or when you go out,” Jaggy says. We’d be happy to lounge in his Anaya Kaftan, whose tuxedo shirt leanings remind us of Holly Golightly’s sleep shirt in Breakfast at Tiffany’s

DENNIS LUSTICO

Dennis is a master of feminine dresses, no doubt, but what we especially love from his collection are the oversized unisex shirts whose design duality make for very interesting wardrobe choices, whether worn at home or on a day out. “We came up with a line that’s functional, classic, more like investment pieces, and they are very anti-fast fashion,” shares Dennis who is also the creative director of The New Mood.

LULU TAN GAN

“I used the colors of blues and greens which reflect our sea life in the Philippines because I’d like to bring them back to the city and give it an urban feel,” says Lulu of her hand-dyed pieces. Her feminine collection caters to our penchant for wearing bandeaus and bike shorts beneath a filmy robe or tunic, though hers are in luxurious knits and lace.

These 35 styles are just the first of many that are already in the pipeline. “We want to foster the Filipino fashion community by helping designers continue their craft and expand their reach in this new way of living,” explains Dong Ronquillo, president and co-founder who started The New Mood with Cathy Binag and designer Puey Quinoñes. Dong adds, “We will have more exciting collections that will really suit your needs for the new way of living. All these pieces are thoughtful buys for thoughtful living.”
