Shocking her fans all around the world, Taylor Swift recently announced her 12th studio album entitled The Life of a Showgirl, which is set to drop on October 3rd. The singer took to Instagram to share the album cover and the stunning visuals, marking a new career chapter—her showgirl era.

The term showgirl harkens back to the 18th century, describing women who behave and dress showily. Emerging in Europe, showgirls entertain by combining dancing, singing, and acting in a playful and flirtatious manner. By the 20th century, the showgirl reached American shores and conquered theater through Ziegfeld Follies and the Las Vegas strip.
Honoring the timeless and captivating glamor of the showgirl, creative director David Blond and designer Phillipe Blond, the duo behind New York-based fashion brand The Blonds, customized several pieces for Taylor. Stylist and longtime collaborator Joseph Cassell Falconer took those pieces and engineered three looks that ushered in the singer's latest era.

This crystal-embellished two-piece is complemented so beautifully by the beaded headdress and ornate marabou boa. This sexy look took Swifties back to 2022, when Taylor wore an Oscar de la Renta minidress to the MTV Video Music Awards.

In what seems to be a tribute to Midnights because of the color maroon and Vigilante Sh*t-style chairs, Taylor channels sultry romance in this crystallized bodysuit, opera gloves, and boots. Completing the look are dangling earrings from Etho Maria.

Looking like a quintessential showgirl, Taylor is ready for the stage in pink ostrich feathers. She also sports a chic bob, which is fabulously framed by the head piece. Punctuating the look are jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz and heels by René Caovilla.
