Online Store of the Week: Eliz Marcelo

We first laid our eyes on the label Eliz Marcelo during one of our trips to the SOMA Stores at Green Sun. Search for her on Instagram and you will come across two accounts: @elizmarcelothelabel and @elizmarcelo (the person). Her raw, monochromatic, and minimalist-with-an-attitude line made a lasting impression that led our print counterpart to turn to her for countless editorials. “I've always had a thing for reinventing classics. I know my style has evolved through the collections I produced but the common denominator would be that they originated from what's already there. I have core pieces (like the boxy top that I just can't let go!) that I tweak until they look new again,” says Eliz. By the way, we are still obsessed with that boxy top she's talking about.

She even made the cut on Preview’s list of top 10 shows at the Manila Fashion Festival Spring Summer 2016.

This season though, she will not be presenting at the bi-annual fashion show to focus on more income-generating projects. “I don't really build a collection around seasons to be honest, it's usually sporadic for me. I don't like feeling forced to release something just because it's time to (as dictated by the fashion calendar). I only make clothes when I feel like I have something new to offer.”

Eliz describes her girl as one who is not swayed by trends, with an attitude of a child, basically girls who straight-up don't care about fleeting fads. After all, style is eternal, right?
