For over a year now, Green Sun has been home, not only to the Manila Fashion Festival, but also to the SOMA Stores. An area on the ground floor of the building served as a platform dedicated to young, local, creative designers to display and sell their pieces. If you’ve ever been to Green Sun, whether to eat or attend an event, it’s impossible for you to miss the black grills dividing the minimalist spaces filled with finds that stir the sartorial senses. The likes of Salad Day, Proudrace, Euniform, Eliz Marcelo, Bea Samson, and many more have set up shop here, but sadly Green Sun just released a statement saying that March 19 will be the last time these stores will be open for business.
“The Green Sun management has unfortunately decided to stop operations of the stores, to move on with a bigger events venue. And from here on, we are deeply saddened to officially announce the final closing of @somastores on March 19, 2016. We are deeply grateful to everyone whose made this happen. We will never forget the support you have always given us. From the brands to the customers to the editors who have helped us along the way, THANK YOU. We say goodbye knowing that you will continue to support our local brands. Cheers!”
It’s a bittersweet goodbye as we’ll lose a home that breeds young talent, but we’re basking in the fact that we know these talented kids will still fare well using their respective online platforms.
Join them for the Final Farewell on Saturday from 4pm to 12am.
