The amount of culture and history embedded in Catriona Gray's national costume is staggeringly impressive enough to educate a whole nation, and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines seems to think so, too. That said, it seems Filipinos will have a chance to see the culturally amalgamated masterpiece in person soon.
Catriona revealed the exciting news via Instagram story with a screenshot of the invitation from the National Quincentennial Commitee, in commemoration of the 500th anniversary of three key historical national events. That being the Circumnavigation of the World, the Introduction of Christianity to the Philippines, and the Victory at Mactan.
"We are interested to exhibit your Miss Universe costume. It features the motifs found in the tattoos of the 16th century Visayan warriors, as well as the quincentennial theme, 500 Years of Valor and Victory," the letter reads. "We will also exhibit the costume in the museums of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, at least in the Museum of Philippines Social History in Angeles City, Museum of Philippine Political History in Malolos, Bulacan, Museo ni Emilio Aguinaldo in Kawit, Cavite, and Museo ni Jose Rizal in Fort Santiago."
The costume is officially called Luzviminda: Magdiwang. Lumaban. Pagyamanin. and we can't wait to catch a glimpse of it soon.
