At the start of 2020, when we thought the pandemic was probably going to be a one-to-two month thing (and boy, were we wrong), we didn't think of upgrading our loungewear wardrobe. And now, fresh off of the heels of COVID-19 year two, it’s high time to rethink our nonchalant approach to WFH dressing.
Introducing: Loungerie. A portmanteau of “lounge” and “lingerie,” it’s a dressier take on the ratty T-shirts and sweat sets we’ve been sporting at home. It doesn’t need to be all that luxurious— just experiment with silkier fabrics, and maybe even sexier cuts. What makes us love this even more is how it’s easier to transition to outdoor wear, especially now that restrictions are easing up.
Here are 9 loungerie pieces that are sure to elevate your WFH outfits:
1. Short Slip Dress
Ah, the classic slip dress. With its subtly dipped neckline and whisper-thin straps, this Saint piece doesn’t get more timeless. Wear it to bed or with a chic blazer on top for a date night look.

2. Long Slip Dress
If you want a loungerie piece that works well for the daytime, try this number from The Lounge Edit. It toes the line between a slip dress and a maxi dress, so you’re well-covered yet comfortable.

3. Night Gown
There’s nothing that feels more luxurious than a well-made nightgown. N Natori, by celebrated Filipina designer Josie Natori, creates vibrantly printed pieces that have that palpable feminine allure. We love this ivory blossom nightgown that features a scattering of gradient peonies.

4. Robe
A signature piece in the loungerie wardrobe is a luxurious robe. This red-hot number from Feminism will have you feeling super sultry, especially if you pair it with a matching slip dress. Can you say “va va voom”?

5. Silk Pajamas
So you’re on the more conservative end—not to fret! Showing off skin isn’t the long component of the loungerie trend. You can enjoy it whilst covered up as long as you’re draped in smooth fabrics that make you feel luxurious. Case in point: this pajama set from The Happy Collective.

6. Cami and Shorts Set
We’re obsessed with camisole-and-shorts sets because they manage to look both sexy and sweet. This cheeky number from H&M goes the extra mile with a delicate lace trim. This camisole is definitely the type of blouse that we’ll use for going out when that becomes a thing again.

7. Satin Shorts
How about a modern take on bloomers? Those voluminous shorts you see on your favorite period drama characters are undeniably charming. Wear a more of-the-moment version through these satin shorts by Etam.

8. Puff-Sleeved Dress
If you’ve learned a little bit about Gen-Z fashion vocabulary and resonate with what we call “cottagecore,” this Daphne Dress by Eve the Label is for you. Featuring puff sleeves and an empire cut, it looks like a dress meant for frolicking around fields (but we promise you it’s comfortable enough to just lie in bed in).

9. Feathered Shirt Dress
Feathers come and go in daytime fashion, but are always in style for loungewear. A feather-adorned pajama can almost be considered a classic in the nightwear department. We love Eve the Label’s Luella Shirtdress, which is part of their bridal collection, but can definitely be enjoyed by any girl who loves a bit of playfulness.
