Take your maxis and midis out for a much-needed spin!

We don't know about you, but the miniskirt-loving, nocturnal partygoer in us is officially in hibernation. Currently in its place: An appetite for all things dainty, an obsession with nostalgic prints, and the simple, sincere desire to wear something flowy enough to allow uninhibited movement during grocery shopping. Obviously, we mean that we love long, long skirts. We've long done away with the myth that they're worn only by aunties and schoolgirls. These days, we wouldn't think twice about picking a printed sheath midi over jeans— the right skirt will be the most head-turning comfy staple you'll ever own.

Of course, the styling possibilities are endless, as is the case with most items. Here, we've collated a couple of outfits we spotted on style bloggers, influencers, as well as fashion stylists and creators from our own shores. If you're keen on making a breakthrough in styling the maxis and the midis you haven't taken out in so long, keep scrolling!

8 Chic, Eye-Catching Ways to Style A Long Skirt:

1. Pair a printed maxi skirt with a bikini top for that dreamy beach babe look.

Marie Lozano's looks are always so sophisticated, and speak to a fun-loving, beachside lifestyle. She really knows how to make accessories work to her advantage, and that's something we can all learn from! We're loving her choice of puka shell-embellished sandals, which match her earrings. There's also no ignoring her multi-toned wooden Cult Gaia bag—those oversized beads on the handle are hypnotizing! What's not to love about this look?

2. Reimagine your white T-shirt uniform.

Veteran stylist Pam Quiñones wore a trusty white tee with a silver pendant necklace, which makes for a pretty standard look. Instead of the usual pair of denim jeans, though, she donned a gorgeous waist-cinching bell-shaped skirt by Vania Romoff. The pairing is absolutely mesmerizing. This look proves the power of a magnetic silhouette.

3. Curate texture, color, and structure.

If green of the plant hadn't given it away, we'd think we were wearing gingerbread-tinted sunnies, too—Daryl Chang's sepia ensemble is just that cohesive. In addition to the sleek color story, we're obsessed with the strong shoulders of her blazer and the dainty pleats of the skirt. (Plus, we've got our eyes on that caramel Senreve bag. Don't you just adore the puzzle piece-like grooves on its body?)

4. Create the illusion of a multi-layered dress with twin pieces.

Might we interest you in pairing a top and skirt with similar prints? Tricia Gosingtian wore a peplum babydoll top and a maxi skirt, both in gingham, which made for a sweet, lightweight look. In line with the grid motif, she completed her outfit with a pair of square toe steppers.

5. Pick out some colors that appear on your skirt, and build the rest of your outfit around them.

Accrue major fashion points by fleshing out the color story of your ensemble. Patricia Prieto's gingham skirt features orange streaks, which seem to pool upwards into a bright tangerine crop top. The skirt also has off-white boxes, which match her shoes. Cool, right?

6. A plain skirt + bra + spicy blazer combo will never fail you.

Red can be pretty tricky color to style— it can look piquantly chic when paired with the right shades, and unflattering at best when teamed with the wrong ones. Black and white, though, are friendly to red—just look to Renee de Guzman for proof. She wore a red tweed blazer over an ebony bra and a silky skirt. She accessorized with a gathered handbag and a pair of black books with acrylic block heels, which actually echo the light-reflecting, rectangular look of her earrings.

7. Fall back on uniquely-hued coordinates.

Not sure how to style your maxi skirt? Simplify the styling process and just cop its RTW partner. Here, the effortlessly elegant Mari Jasmine wore a knitted set in an alluring turquoise. Pair this with distraction-free PVC heels to really play up the solid color.

8. Rely on a hefty rotation of animal print skirts to spice up simpler outfits.

Subvert your basic white tank top + white sneaker OOTD with a sassy skirt. Collect 'em in zebra, snake, croc, cow, cheetah, leopard—whatever have you. Pinay model Marizza Delgado makes a strong case for this. She's also here to remind you to always keep a pair of oversized black sunnies—they're a must-have for that model off duty look.
