Kim Hee Ae's Designer Bags in “A World of Married Couple” Will Make Your Jaw Drop

One of our latest obsessions, A World of Married Couple, just set a new record for the highest ratings in K-drama history. The show tells the gripping story of a struggling couple dealing with the twists and turns of divorce. It focuses on the point of view of Dr. Ji Sun Woo (Kim Hee Ae), whose strength and unrelenting courage will definitely beguile any viewer. But aside from her iron will, another thing we love about Dr. Ji is her fashion sense.

In Episode 1, you can already tell that Dr. Ji has a penchant for designer things and that she has incredibly good taste. As a doctor, her wardrobe revolves around comfortable pieces that are nonetheless chic, such as pencil skirts mixed with relaxed button-downs, which she often accessorizes with printed scarves or pearl necklaces. Since her style is simple and minimalist, Dr. Ji uses designer bags to make a bold sartorial statement. (We can only imagine what her bag collection looks like!) Here are some of the handbags we’ve spotted her toting in the show so far:

Hermès Birkin

With her packed schedule, Dr. Ji barely has any time to switch bags in between daily engagements, like doing errands after finishing work. That’s why she always goes for spacious designer bags that can fit everything and go with any outfit. And what better daily armor than an Hermès Birkin? In Episode 2, Dr. Ji flaunts a tan-colored one which she uses to complement her navy blue blazer and black turtleneck.

If you’ve been following the show, you know how much Dr. Ji likes to dress up for evening affairs (especially when it involves one of her schemes). In Episode 10, she opted for a head-to-toe Alaia look. Sure, it was an all-black ensemble, but it’s the attention to detail that’s making us rave about it. The Alaia LBD featured a dolman sleeve and a boatneck; its prim appeal was juxtaposed with the tiny but mighty Leonie—a fun box handbag outlined with little studs.

Each episode has us wanting to raid Dr. Ji’s wardrobe even more—she has so many posh everyday bags to choose from! Another Louis Vuitton bag which we’ve spotted in Episode 10 is the LV Arch featuring a gorgeous contrast of tan and black and gold hardware, which definitely stood out against her oatmeal-colored sweater.

By now, you’ve probably noticed that Dr. Ji is obsessed with large, trapezoid-shaped handbags, a classic option for designer bags. Another item we spotted her toting around at work is Salvatore Ferragamo’s iconic Studio Bag in black. It even has a dainty gold chain attached to the Gancini logo clasp. 

Givenchy Mystic Tote

A twist on Dr. Ji’s beloved structured handbags is the Mystic bag from Givenchy that features a more rounded shape thanks to its expandable body, locked in with a flap closure. Aside from Dr. Ji’s preference for top handles, this teal creation also features a detachable shoulder strap for when she needs a crossbody bag—you know, like when she’s running around town plotting against her ex-husband.

Longchamp Roseau
