Luxe loungewear brand Natori is known for its East meets West aesthetic that has made it into the steadfast label it is today. The brand’s silk slip dresses and caftans have a cult following and are a staple for every lady of leisure as well as Hollywood A-listers. So when Josie Natori decided to venture into fine jewelry, it didn’t come so much as a shock. But the designer’s modern take on statement earrings and necklaces was a refreshing surprise.
“I grew up with fine jewelry,“ Josie Natori tells Preview, “My grandmothers were both jewelers. My mother has a fanatic love for jewelry.” The opportunity to start her own line of finery came about when the Filipina founder met Ankur Daga, CEO of Angara.com, a fine jewelry e-retailer and supply chain based in the US. Teaming up with Ankur, Natori was able to produce a full line of jewelry in a short amount of time. "But it wasn't something I would do by myself. So when the opportunity came and they [Ankur] appraoched us, and they have a very unique way or producing pieces so quickly, and the technology behind it, it seemed like the right time." The swiftness of production also complemented Natori’s vision for their gilded pieces: timeless, minimal, and unapologetically youthful.
Though loungewear isn’t top of mind for young millennials or Gen-Zers, Natori’s bijoux offerings obviously think about women of a younger set whose taste is more understated and practical. Specifically girls who probably just started investing in a few gold pieces of her own. This collection definitely isn’t just for titas, but for every girl who hankers for gilded shine to elevate her outfit.
Take for example her Indochine Circular Bamboo Hoop Earrings that are an elegant Natori update to the well-loved '90s accessory. But if you want something a little more bespoke, her Indochine Diamond Multi-Wear Bamboo Earrings would definitely do the trick.

“I think you should try different things, and see how you feel about it,” Josie shares when it comes to the topic of layering accessories, “I believe that the person should feel good about it. Does it make you feel special? At the end it should please you. Don’t bother about what other people think!” The brand’s stackable rings and bangles are perfect for the fun fashion girl who’s never shy to mix metals.

They also offer statement chokers adorned with diamonds, with designs that are still clean and sleek—nothing chunky here. But they’re pieces that speak volumes sitting on one’s collar and décolletage. Trust us, when we say these are conversation starters.

Even with an oversized bright gemstone, the Indochine ring features a delicate geometric band to give it a modernist update that's suitable for 2020.

When asked what piece of jewelry every girl should own, the designer says to start from the top. “Earrings. It frames the face and it changes your entire look almost instantly,” she says with a smile, wearing a pair of statement piercers herself. We couldn’t agree more, Mrs. Natori.
Natori's fine jewelry is available at Silver Vault in Rustan's Makati.
