Leading the innovation of textile printing technology, Norde International, in partnership with Kornit Allegro (the world’s first single step roll-to-roll digital textile printing system!), revolutionized fabric customization by launching a fashion collection with globally-renowned Filipino fashion designer Happy Andrada.
Preview sits down with Happy for an exclusive interview on the collaboration and process behind Transcendence, her 31-piece collection, and the first locally-designed RTW and couture collection created entirely out of Norde and Kornit's customized fabrics!

So what's the process of textile printing like, beginning from print conceptualization?
Transcendence succeeded in capturing the movement of dancers through a shoot with popular photographer Shaira Luna. After the photos were taken, a team of surface designers used the dancers’ images to create up to 50 nature-inspired digital patterns. Happy says, "First, Shaira took photos of the models, and then we did graphic art on those photos—we came up with more than 50 prints and came out with a collection. I was extremely amazed by the printing process and how quick and vivid it is!"

What's the best part about being the first Filipino designer to produce a collection with this technology?
"I'm really honored to be a part of this project, I love digital printing and took up classes in London but I’ve never seen anything like this! It's a dream come true to work with them."

What's the theme of your whole collection and how is it reflected in the silhouettes and fabrics you chose? "This show is a never-before-seen experience as it associates the new technology of digital printing and the creativity of fashion design. The printing is amazingly precise and allows you to see the details in each creation. Also, printing is possible on any kind of fabric, from piña to neoprene!"

The patterns were digitally printed on different fabric materials ranging from chiffon, tulle, and organza, all the way up to more complicated ones like duchess satin and spandex. "The Kornit Allegro is a wonderful step-up in digital printing, because it can print on an unlimited number of fabrics, which wasn't possible in the past. With Kornit, the possibilities are endless. It is such an experience—extremely sharp, fast, and elegant. This is a piece of art in modern technology and anything that would come out of it is truly magical and personal."
