Through the years, the Cannes Film Festival has remained the pinnacle of global cinematic prestige—an annual gathering where film’s brightest talents convene in the South of France to honor outstanding contributions to the craft.
This year, the celebration extended beyond cinema and onto the red carpet, which transformed into a showcase of international style. From celebrated veterans to emerging names, guests arrived in remarkable looks by designers from across the world. Among the many highlights were Filipino-made ensembles worn by local and global attendees alike.

A luminescent ball gown by Michael Cinco, worn by Veena Praveenar Singh
Thai beauty queen Veena Praveenar Singh dazzled in a charcoal-hued ball gown by internationally celebrated Filipino couturier Michael Cinco. The bodice, sculpted with overlapping panels and a classic sweetheart neckline, emphasized her silhouette and revealed a touch of décolletage, perfectly complemented by a diamond-encrusted necklace.

The Chrysalis gown by Rajo Laurel, worn by Marina Summers
Filipina drag superstar Marina Summers made herstory as the first-ever Filipina drag queen to walk the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. She first appeared in a striking black sequined asymmetrical column gown by Mark Bumgarner, then followed it up with a second standout: a luminous gold, sculptural creation by Rajo Laurel, styled by Lyn Alumno. Known as the Chrysalis gown, the archival piece features a nautilus-inspired silhouette, brought to life through Rajo’s signature pleated detailing.

A voluminous, modern terno ensemble by ANTONINA, worn by Nour Hooshmand
Nour Hooshmand, star of Agapito—the only Filipino short film shortlisted at this year’s festival—represented the country with elegance. She joined the red carpet in several contemporary terno ensembles, including this voluminous gray gown worn to the Palme d’Or ceremony. Styled by Karlo Carranza and Elisea Mantuano-Carranza, the outfit by ANTONINA featured a floor-length smocked skirt, a minimalist bandeau, and a bolero featuring the terno’s signature butterfly sleeves reinterpreted with a more relaxed structure.

A reworked blazer by Vernice Bongato matched with Carl Jan Cruz trousers, worn by Andre Miguel
Actor Andre Miguel, who starred alongside Nour in Agapito, made a case for expressive men's formalwear rooted in traditional Filipino heritage codes. For QCinema Night at Cannes, where their film was screened, Andre stepped out in a vintage blazer redesigned by his sister, Vernice Bongato, paired with Carl Jan Cruz’s Kayod barrel-leg denim pants. As his stylist Angelo Vasallo shared with Preview, the lace collar was taken from their mother’s wedding dress and sewn onto one of Andre’s old coats.

A golden yellow, sculptural column gown by Michael Cinco, worn by Chelsea Manalo
Miss Universe Asia 2024 Chelsea Manalo made a statement-making debut on the Cannes red carpet in a radiant, yellow look by Michael Cinco. The column dress featured a dramatic asymmetrical neckline resembling a sculpted fan, which perfectly framed her face. A figure-hugging bodice, one-shoulder sleeve, and thousands of glimmering embellishments enhanced the beauty queen's statuesque presence, while a flowing tulle train brought a theatrical close to the look.

A timeless emerald green look by Mark Bumgarner, worn by Pia Jauncey
For her third year attending Cannes, Pia Jauncey graced the closing ceremony in a refined emerald ensemble by Mark Bumgarner. Styled by Perry Tabora, the piece showcased a structured drop-waist bodice that transitioned into a full A-line skirt, subtly detailed with bow accents and discreetly-placed pockets.

Also making her Cannes comeback this year was actress and entrepreneur Kylie Verzosa, who donned a soft yet another captivating creation by Mark Bumgarner. Romantic yet understated, the custom gown, rendered in a buttery yellow, featured a streamlined column silhouette that blossomed into a floral motif at the lower hem.
