Marina Summers is proving to be a boundary-breaking force. From becoming the first Filipina performer to compete on RuPaul's Drag Race UK vs The World, she’s once again making headlines, this time in France where the prestigious Cannes Film Festival is being held.

Marina made history as the first Filipina drag queen to grace the event’s red carpet. In the aftermath of the momentous opportunity, she took to social media to express her happiness over being able to represent her community on a global scale.

“So so so honored to be the first Filipina drag queen to be invited to walk the red carpet of @festivaldecannes Such a big moment to be repping for the Filipino Drag and Queer community in the sea of people on the red carpet,” she wrote on Instagram.

The Pinay drag queen stunned at the star-studded gala clad in Mark Bumgarner—a black, sequined, off-shoulder frock that perfectly shapes her figure. In the same post, she thanked her team for helping her make “herstory,” writing “I OWE YOU THIS BIG TIME! I will forever treasure this moment! 🤍 love you!”

Congratulations were in order as industry friends quickly flooded the comments section with praise and support for Marina. Among them were Kerwin King, Eva Le Queen, Gabbs Gibs, and Olivia Lux, among many others.

In a separate post, Marina revealed that even Hollywood icon Angelina Jolie took notice of her beauty while passing by her during the event. “Angelina Jolie said I look gorgeous tonight,” she captioned her IG story. Present for the premiere of the contemporary Western film Eddington, Angelina was a vision herself in a strapless, champagne-hued ball gown from Brunello Cucinelli.
