Exploring a foreign country while wearing its traditional attire adds depth to the adventure. It may look touristy to some, but it’s also a meaningful immersion in the culture—wearing heritage rather than just looking at it.
It can be seen in the way numerous countries offer rentals of their traditional attire, such as the Hanbok in South Korea, the Kimono in Japan, and the Chut Thai in Thailand. And in the Philippines, a newly launched initiative in Intramuros aligns with this.
Traje de Intramuros Offers Rentals of Traditional Filipino Attires
Guests can now explore the walled city in traditional Filipino clothing. Traje de Intramuros, housed in Fort Santiago, is a rental store that allows visitors to truly experience our culture by donning distinguished pieces inspired by our past era.

Behind the concept is Archie Dema-ala of the cultural group La Manila Dance Ambassadors and Rondalla. As explained on their Instagram, Traje de Intramuros was born from a vision to make our culture more accessible and to celebrate our roots. Through this initiative, they aim for guests not just to learn about our history but also to be part of it.
In addition to the Traje de Mestiza for women and the Barong for men, add-on props and accessories are available. Visitors can take it up a notch by availing makeup, hairstyling, and photography services, too.
Rentals can last between three and four hours, and guests can participate in the heritage tour while wearing the attire. Lockers are also available to safely keep belongings.
The rates for renting traditional Filipino attire range from P800 to P2,000.
