If you're a K-drama fan and a budding entrepreneur, then this new TVN series will be right up your alley! Aptly called Startup, Soompi reports that the drama zooms in the lives of four young business-minded millennials who are out to prove themselves in the real world.
Startup is set in South Korea’s fictional version of Silicon Valley, called Sandbox. Here, they tell the stories of four bright startup entrepreneurs to be portrayed by Bae Suzy, Nam Joo Hyuk, Kang Han Na, and Kim Seon Ho. The series marks the reunion of Hotel Del Luna director Oh Choong Hwan and I Hear Your Voice writer Park Hye Ryun who both worked with Suzy in the drama While You Were Sleeping.
In the new K-drama, Suzy plays the hardworking and ambitious Seo Dal Mi who dreams of becoming Korea's Steve Jobs. Her paths cross with an old flame portrayed by Nam Joo Hyuk. His character, Nam Do San is an accomplished but meandering tech founder who also happens to be a math genius.
Meanwhile, Kim Seon Ho takes on the role of Han Ji Pyung, who started a company with the intention of paying off his debt. His character is dubbed as "the Gordan Ramsay of investments" for his sharp tongue and topnotch skills. Lastly, Kang Han Na completes the cast as CEO Won In Jae. She's perfect in every way: She's got the credentials, incomparable beauty, and money. However, she deems her chaebol status a weakness after being used by her own father for his selfsih gains. Determined to prove herself elsewhere, In Jae starts her own business, away from her family's shadow.
Startup is slated to begin airing in October 2020. There's no word yet whether the series will hit Netflix but we're definitely keeping our fingers crossed!
