Seo Ye Ji’s worn many hats throughout her seven-year acting career. She’s portrayed a princess on Hwarang (2016), a lawyer on Lawless Lawyer (2018), and now a children’s book author on It’s Okay No to Be Okay (2020). But did you know that she actually holds a rather permanent role in the Korean police force?
It’s true, the actress also doubles as an honorary police officer! Ye Ji was awarded the title back in 2018 during the Meeting of Broadcast/Film Producers Who Were With Police Officers, as revealed that year by her then-agency King Entertainment.
The event was attended by 30 directors, producers, and writers who had all previously produced top police-themed media content. For her part, Ye Ji was awarded the rank of honorary constable, accompanied by a letter of appointment, thanks to her role as Ha Jae Yi on Lawless Lawyer.
“Seo Ye Ji left a deep impression on viewers as a just lawyer in the drama. It was decided that she was suitable to be an honorary police officer, and she participated in this honor,” a source from the National Police Agency explained.
Upon receiving the honor, Ye Ji vowed to continue on as a model actress and citizen for the years to come. “I’m very honored and I feel an invaluable responsibility to have been appointed an honorary police officer. I will continue to participate in activities for the people and the police and will do my best to show a good side of myself as an actor next year as well,” she said during the meeting.
