Celebrity couple Sarah Geronimo and Matteo Guidicelli's "secret wedding" was not without its share of rumors and controversies. The two tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at Victory Church, Shangri-La at The Fort, last February 20. What was supposed to be a solemn and private occasion was blown out of proportion when an alleged dispute between the groom, Sarah's bodyguard, and Sarah's mother, Divine, started going viral.
Sarah and Matteo have dodged questions about what really happened at the nuptials, though Matteo's been fervently denying having punched Sarah's bodyguard, Jerry Tamara.
However, the two have finally broken the silence. During her taping for The Voice Teens, Sarah herself smiled for a photo and flashed her wedding ring, which appears to be of a single-row pavé setting. The brand new ring sits atop her diamond engagement ring.
Matteo also flaunted his wedding ring before heading into his car during an ambush interview after a press conference held last February 26.
The newly minted groom also officially confirmed that the two are married just yesterday through an emotionally-charged Instagram post wherein he expressed nothing but joy and gratitude for this new stage in his life.
"A day full of pure love, honesty and genuine emotions. Yes, we got married. Mr and Mrs. Guidicelli," his caption begins.
"First and foremost, We would like to express the overwhelming joy, love, and excitement we have in beginning our life together. We decided to keep everything as intimate as possible because of private matters."
Despite the controversies that have been swirling around their nuptials, congratulatory messages have been pouring in from fellow celebrities and close friends. Angel Locsin, Anne Curtis, and Georgina Wilson were among the well-wishers who commented on Matteo's Instagram post.
"In time, with God’s grace and Love, everything will heal and fall into place," Matteo says in the caption.
"We are happy, we are blessed, and we are husband and wife! Let’s always celebrate life and love!"
Sarah and Matteo were engaged last November 2019. The two dated for six years prior.
