After graduating from the Anyang High School of Arts, the superstar-to-be enrolled in Kyung Hee University as a Post Modern Music and Media major. Aside from Rain, other personalities that walked through the college's hallways include Gong YooKim Tae RiG-Dragon of Big BangChanyeol of EXO, and several others. Oh, and also two of South Korea's past presidents, no biggie.

3. Rain gets his stage name from "sadness"

Once his career kicked off, Ji Hoon chose to go by Rain after his producer told him that he "gives [off] an impression of sadness" when he dances. To represent this apparent somberness, he adopted the Korean word for rain"Bi"as his stage name. "As sad as rain falling," he said in an interview.

5. Rain faced discrimination for his looks.

Though, everything didn't always sail so smoothly for the K-pop idol. Before finding his way to JYP, Rain went through rejection after rejection, primarily (and surprisingly) because of his looks. During a 2005 interview with CNN, he recalls that he, "was told after one audition that my singing and dancing was great but I did not make it because I did not have double eyelids." Another casting panelist went as far to say that he should come back after getting cosmetic surgery.

6. Rain sang the theme song of the 2008 Olympics

Sure, other artists can boast of chart-topping hit singles and sold-out concert venues, but not a lot can say that they've sang the theme song of the Olympics. This was a feat Rain achieved for the 2008 Games in Beijing, where he belted out the tune Hand in Hand. He even performed during the games' closing ceremony, lighting up the stage with Beijing, Beijing, I Love Beijing.

7. Rain won a Baeksang Arts Award for his first ever drama

Simultaneous with his music career, Rain made his on-screen debut in the 2003 slice of life drama Sang Doo! Let's Go to School. In it, he played a gigolo trying to make ends meet for his daughter. His performance was adored by many, so much so that he took home the Most Popular TV Actor Award at the Baeksang Arts Awards the following year. Not bad for your first acting gig!
